Summer Piano 2023
POLICY
Tuition
Private Lessons: Tuition is $110 each month for 30-minute lessons once a week, and due on the first of the month. Tuition remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in the month, or whether it’s an in-studio or online lesson.
Group Lessons: Tuition is $85 per month for 45-minute group classes. Tuition remains the same regardless of the number of lessons in the month. Minimum 2 students / Maximum 5 enrolled per class.
Please review the calendar to see which days class will be held. Tuition can be paid by Check, Cash, Venmo, Paypal or Zelle.
Registration Fee
There is a $60 registration fee due at the beginning of each semester (August 1 and January 1). This fee covers all recitals, gigs, sheet music, piano books, studio licenses, equipment, venues, printing, computer software and apps, teaching aids, etc.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made by 9:00 AM the day of the lesson in order to request a make-up lesson. Make-up lessons are very limited. If I have an opening in my week from another cancelled lesson, I will reach out and offer it on a first come/first serve basis. There are no make-up lessons available for “no shows”.
Although there is no requirement to give a 30-day notice to end lessons entirely, please note there are no refunds.
Onine Lessons
Online lessons are always available to in-studio students, as well as to students that prefer this as a regular format. This is a great last-minute option to use when a student lacks transportation, if you're running late from a previous appointment, or if your student or family member has been ill. This is the perfect solution when there is a need for social distancing. Zoom is the preferred platform, but FaceTime can also be used.
Lesson Time
Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes prior to your lesson and plan on picking up your student promptly after the lesson. It is distracting and inconvenient to students when the next student arrives too early or stays too late. As students arrive they may let themselves in quietly without knocking. Please do not come with chewing gum!

Practice Time
I understand that most students are busy with school and other activities, however, for a student to learn to play piano it is recommended they practice a minimum of 30 minutes each day (20 minutes for very young students.) Practice should include warm-ups, scales and lesson songs. Parents are an important part of this time. Whether you can actually help your student, or more importantly, be an appreciative listener to their efforts, it helps. I will talk to students and call parents if I feel that they need more time practicing.
Summer Lessons
During the summer I schedule lessons based on when students are available, since everyone has different vacation schedules. You only come and pay for the lessons you sign up to take. Private lessons are $30 and Group Lessons are $25 each. All other studio policies apply.

Recitals/Gigs/Soirees
I hold two recitals during the year. “Cookies & Carols” is held in December and the formal Spring Recital is in May. All students should plan on attending.
Additional Gigs and Soirees are optional events scheduled throughout the year at no additional cost to students.

Materials
All students will be provided with a lesson or method book, and often supplemental books or sheet music. Students of all levels will be given duets/ensembles to work on. Notes are made in the lesson book so the students always know what they should be working on. Parents can review these pages for comments, and additional assignments. Music theory is an essential part of learning to play piano. Theory will be taught at each lesson through the music book, flashcards, games and drawing boards.
